Do you really want the Lord to come?

I recall a conversation I used to have with my friends in my early teen years. We always mentioned how we wanted to grow up, have a good job, get married to the right person, raise successful kids, grow old with our spouses, and then finally die. When we talked about rapture, we just concluded that it is a phenomenon that should happen when we grow old. Let the Lord come after we have enjoyed life.

Years later, this wrong orientation hasn’t changed. Infact, I didn’t realize it until the Holy Ghost asked me a question recently- “are you waiting for the Lord or are you waiting to get married.” (Don’t judge me, lol)

Well, that was a huge shocker because it dawned on me that I wasn’t really waiting for the Lord. Truth be told, I was waiting to get married, have children, then maybe we can start talking about the Lord’s coming. Sad thing is- I am not the only person in this situation. Many believers don’t want the Lord to come, yet. Try asking an average believer if he wants rapture to happen now. All you’ll get is a big fat NO. To him, there are so many things he is yet to achieve. Rapture happening now is a show spoiler.

We wake up everyday, ready to obey God, but in the depths of our hearts, we don’t want Him to come until we have achieved this and that. Let’s look at it this way. There are 2 categories of believers: The ones who don’t even want the Lord to come. Let them enjoy life, die peacefully, go to heaven where their mansion awaits them (the enjoyment continues). The second category wants Him to come, but after getting natural rewards. And oftentimes, we miss out on the Lord’s coming in our hearts, seasons of growth and change, because we were waiting for something else- something outside God.

As humans, we believe that we should enjoy the phases of our earthly life. We have our legitimate plans and pursuits, things we believe are necessary, but Satan comes to deceive us that these things should have the paramount hold in our hearts rather than the Lord’s coming. He knows that The Lord’s coming is his end.

I am of the opinion that we as believers ought to hasten the coming of the Lord and not postpone it. Beyond rapture, GOD coming is His knowledge coming to man. He is full of so many treasures that He is willing and ready to share with man. We don’t believe He wants to come. We believe that His business is to fight with Satan and attend to our needs, when His business and interest has always been man.

‘For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14)’.This is the Lord God’s coming. Our hearts should begin to cry Maranatha. A revival and baptism of revelation and knowledge. A spurring unto works. A cry for deliverance and opening of eyes. A season and transformation from carnality to divinity. We should be a people whose pursuit is God and Him alone. No other thing should be esteemed in our hearts. He should be the center of being. None other should contend in hearts. All our hopes and aspirations should fade like ashes before Him.

So yeah, I am learning to die to so many things. If ever I don’t achieve the things I want, I’ll be content knowing that I was found in soberness and fear waiting for the coming of the Lord.

We should be a people who are truly waiting for the Lord. He will come to those who are truly waiting for His appearing.

Are you waiting for Him or are you waiting…
